SCHUNDLER VERMICULITE MICA PELLETS
ATTIC INSULATION

"According to a recent study with 4.2 percent uninsulated area, the thermal performance of a R-19 insulated ceiling was reduced 34 percent (and heat loss increased 50 percent). The loss in overall performance with small gaps in ceiling insulation is probably more serious than most installers are aware of" (from Effectiveness of Building Insulation Applications by the Department of Navy, Civil Engineering Laboratory.)

To understand why small gaps can drastically reduce the performance of your attic insulation, imagine for a moment that you insulated your home, but left a small window open all year. The energy loss through that one window would greatly increase your heating and air conditioning bills.

In much the same way, small uninsulated areas in your attic could be costing you a lot of money. Filling these gaps with Schundler Vermiculite Mica Pellets Attic Insulation will help you to enjoy improved home comfort at less cost.

Schundler Vermiculite Mica Pellets Attic Insulation is

  • Ideal for filling gaps: If your attic already has insulation, check to see if it has gaps and/or thin spots. Remember studies show that small gaps can dramatically increase heat loss. Use a few bags at a time until you are satisfied that all the gaps in your attic are filled. Vermiculite Mica Pellets Attic Insulation also is ideal for uninsulated attics (but costs much more than cellulose blown insulation or fiberglass for large uninsulated areas!)

    1. Gaps to look for in your home:

    2. Small gaps between batts and joists.

    3. Batts which have settled (or which were too thin originally)

    4. Uninsulated areas around cross-bracing

    5. Around pipes

    6. Around electrical junction boxes

    7. Gaps due to overlapping joists.

  • Easy to install: No special equipment or professional help is required. No itchy fibers to worry about. Do It Yourself---just carry the lightweight bags into your attic, open them up, and pour them out. Its that simple.

  • Totally fireproof: Vermiculite Mica Pellets Attic Insulation has the lowest flammability rating of any insulation with flame spread, fuel contribution, and smoke development all equal to "0". Some insulation materials are fire "resistant" but Vermiculite Mica Pellets are fireproof!

  • A Wise Investment: Vermiculite Mica Pellets Attic Insulation is rot proof and vermin proof. It will not settle substantially or shrink. Its full insulating power will not diminish over time. It permanently reduces your monthly heating and air-conditioning bills, and increases the market value of your home.

EASY INSTALLATION:

  • For an unfloored attic:

Simply pour Vermiculite Mica Pellets in between joists. Use a board, rake, or piece of cardboard to level off material to desired thickness.

  • For a floored attic:

Pry up one or two floorboards approximately every 8 feet with a chisel. Pour Vermiculite Mica Pellets into opening and push underneath floorboards still in place.

  • For attics with fiberglass:

Use a few bags of Vermiculite Mica Pellets as an energy sealant by pouring it into gaps around batts, braces, piping, electrical junction boxes, and other obstructions. Also use it to increase thickness of insulation.
